GLFx Nairobi set up a Tree Nursery in Kiserian, Kajiado County approximately 25 km outside the Nairobi City Center.
The tree nursery will contain both exotic trees and fruit trees which are ideal for agroforestry due to their fast maturity and long term economic value for the farmers. Additionally, we will nurture indigenous trees that are tolerant to low rainfall conditions as Kajiado County is semi-arid for the majority of the year. When at capacity, the tree nursery will hold up to 1000 seedlings.
A lot of more work remains to be done to get the tree nursery fully operational and sustainable.
This has been a labor of love by all our team members and one thing we all agree on, setting up and operating a nursery is easier said than done.
