Our APPROACHES

Faith-Based Inititatives

At Kijani Resilience, we believe faith can serve as a powerful catalyst for positive environmental change. By intertwining faith and action, we aim to instill a deep sense of responsibility for preserving and restoring our natural surroundings.

  • One of our key projects is a pilot initiative at the Kenyan Coast, implemented in partnership with Minda Trust. This initiative promotes the sustainable use, conservation, and restoration of natural resources, all guided by a faith-based approach.

  • In November 2024, we hosted a workshop supported by GLFx Nairobi and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) UK’s Beliefs and Values Programme. This event brought together various faith-based groups to share goals, exchange ideas, and discuss strategies for restoration. A key outcome was the establishment of the Oloolua Forest Faith and Restoration Network, facilitated by GLFx Nairobi. This network fosters collaboration among faith actors and promotes diverse perspectives on forest restoration. The steering committee, comprising 33 members from Christian, Muslim, and Baha’i faiths, guides the network’s efforts.

Community Engagement and Capacity Building

We partner with local communities to co-design and implement solutions. By involving communities at every stage—from project design to execution—we ensure that our initiatives are inclusive, effective, and tailored to local needs.

Evidence-Driven Approaches

Our projects are guided by research, data collection, and monitoring tools. We have integrated innovative technologies, such as the Regreening Africa App, to monitor progress and evaluate impact, ensuring that our efforts remain effective and scalable.

Policy Advocacy

We work closely with governments and policymakers to create enabling environments that prioritize community-driven solutions in national and international climate agendas. Through active participation in campaigns and advocacy efforts, we strive to amplify the voices of local communities in policy discussions.

Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships

We recognize that collaboration is key to driving meaningful change. Our projects bring together a diverse range of stakeholders, including private sector entities, public institutions, NGOs, CSOs, youth and women’s groups, religious institutions, academia, and even sports organizations. By fostering inclusive partnerships, we harness collective expertise and resources to achieve sustainable outcomes.
