What is the convergence of Art and Restoration?
This is what the Sanaa na Mazingira Festival 2022 aims to achieve. Sanaa is Swahili for Art while Mazingira translates to environment. There couldn’t be a better place to integrate art and restoration than at Tempo Art Center.

Tempo Art Centre is located in a restored quarry and is boxed in by tributaries of River Nairobi. This affords the center multiple avenues for restoration action. These include riparian land restoration, Nairobi River clean Up, Tree planting and growing as well as agriculture. Over the years, Tempo Art Centre members have rehabilitated the formerly abandoned quarry into an oasis full of vegetables, fruit trees, tree nurseries and a tree lined river bank.
The membership of Tempo is composed of a variety of artists and a diverse range of artistic interests. What initially started as an acrobatics training center has grown to play host to dancers, martial artists, painters and musicians. These artists will this weekend come together to showcase their craft, celebrate their achievements and advance the restoration message. This will be an art festival like none other.
If you’re in a position to make it to Lucky Summer in Nairobi, Kenya on Saturday 10th December, 2022, I hope to see you there.
